Story Created: Mar 1, 2010 at 11:23 AM PST
Santa Barbara police are still searching right now for suspects involved in a brazen daylight shooting.
Investigators say an unidentified 20 to 30 year-old Santa Barbara man was reportedly shot in the forehead with a handgun moments after answering the door of a home on the 1500 block of Gillespie Street. It happened monday at 11 a.m.
Remarkably, the victim was able to provide police with some information before being rushed to Cottage Hospital.
Police are looking for four suspects. The gunman, described as a white male in his 30's, and his accomplices. An older adult white female with blond hair and two African American men in their 20's. They were all last seen leaving the area in an older, 4-door black Volvo.
Police say other adults were in the house at the time of the shooting and they're providing information about the suspects, what conversations may have taken place and what may have led to the near fatal shooting.
The shooting occurred just blocks from Harding Elementary School. Barbara Keyani with the Santa Barbara School District tells KEY News, precautionary measures were taken to secure the elementary school campus.
The 1500 block of Gillespie was shut down for a short period of time due to the investigation.
