Over the weekend, a drive-by shooting in a somewhat quiet neighborhood has residents concerned and police searching for answers. Police say they gunmen involved in the shooting, were targeting a specific house.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Hip-hop star Akon spoke to students in upstate New York about gun violence as part of a plea agreement for tossing a fan off stage at a concert nearby.Akon pleaded guilty in December to tossing the teen off stage at a June 2007 concert at Dutchess County Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y. He won't serve jail time but must complete 65 hours of anti-violence and anti-gang community service.Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkazyik said Thursday's forum fulfilled some of those hours. He said Akon will return to Poughkeepsie in September and participate in a Project SWAG — Society at War Against Guns — back-to-school conference.Akon, whose given name is Aliaune Thiam, will also record a public service announcement about gun violence for use by local radio stations.See more photos of Akon here!

In a continuing effort to inform and prepare the campus, the UCSB Police
Department is offering an insightful and dramatic presentation regarding
active shooter or critical incidents. This free 90 minute presentation
will be held July 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Campbell Hall. Sergeant Matt
Bowman has teamed with Dr. Turi Honegger, Psychologist and Crisis
Specialist to expand and improve this presentation. It will include
simulated gunfire, 911 audio from Columbine High School, weapon take away
demonstrations, as well as the added insights of Dr. Honegger.
Even if you have seen a previous version of this talk, it would be worth
